Section A Language points 1. allow vt.,意为“允许”。 allow sb. to do sth. 表示“允许某人做某事”。e.g. My parents don’t allow me to watch TV too late. 我父母不允许我看电视看得太晚。 allow后面可接v.-ing形式。e.g. We don’t allow talking with each other in class. 我们不允许在课堂上互相交谈。 plain clothes 便服 Soldiers wear plain clothes on leave, not uniform. 士兵度假时穿便服,不穿制服。 interview v. 采访 I’ll interview an office worker this afternoon. 2. carry out 贯彻;执行;实现 e.g. They didn’t carry out their plan.他们没有执行他们的计划。 She had finally carried out her promise to stop smoking. 她最终实现了戒烟的诺言。 The boss wanted his workers ____ the plan soon. 2. occasion n. 场合, 机会, 理由 e.g. I only wear a tie on special occasions. 我只在特殊场合才打领带。 I was not at home on that occasion. 那时我正好不在家。 There was no occasion to be so rude. 没有理由这样粗鲁。 You should go there if occasion arises. 如果有机会,你应当到那里去。 I’ve met her on several occasions recently. 我最近见到过她好几次。 3. dress 【例句】 Get up and dress quickly. 赶快起床穿衣服。 The mother is dressing her baby. 母亲正在给婴儿穿衣服。 【点拨】 dress可作不及物动词, 意为“穿好衣裳”;dress还可作及物动词,意为“给„„穿好衣裳”。 【拓展】 dress up意为“穿上盛装、打扮”。例如: She dressed up for a ball. 她穿上盛装去参加舞会。 The children dressed up as policemen.孩子们把自己打扮成了警察。 在英语中, 如果主语是较长的非谓语动词短语或一个句子,为了保持句子结构的平衡, 避免头重脚轻,通常用it作形式主语放在句首, 而把真正的主语放在句尾。 It is + adj. + for+ sb. + to do sth.,表示“做某事对某人来说怎么样的”。这里的 adj.是用来说明to do sth.的属性,跟里面的sb.没有直接联系。因此该句型还可以转换成:to do sth. + is + adj.。常用于此句型的形容词有important, difficult, dangerous, necessary, useful, possible等。 E.g. It’s very dangerous for old people to cross the busy street alone. It’s impossible for us to finish the work in such a short time. It is + adj. + of + sb. + to do sth.,表示“某人这么做是怎么样的”。这里

的adj.跟sb. 有关, 是用来描述其性格、品质的, 即: 把这个句型中的sb.和adj.提出来可以造句为sb. +be + adj.。常用于此句型的形容词有good, kind, nice, clever, wise等。e.g. It’s very nice of you to help me with my English.
