I’m writing to find a student to share my apartment. The apartment is located at No.1, Rose Street and the total rent is $380 per month. It’s 80 square metres, with two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom and free wifi access. Two large supermarkets and a public library are nearby, and it’s a convenient five minutes’ walk to the metro station. Personally, I would travel to Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Oct. 1, 1949. It would be exciting to witness the historic moment when the People’s Republic of China was founded. If I were lucky enough to have the opportunity, I would interview Chairman Mao and other revolutionary pioneers, telling how brilliant they were and showing them our gratitude for the new life they brought us I would also take pictures to record how people lived at that time. After I returned, I would show those photos to people I knew, reminding them of the hardship in the past, so that they would cherish what they posses now and be more positive toward life. Hopefully, what I brought back would inspire people today to follow the example set by those pioneers and contribute more to developing our society and building a better world.

Many people believe it was during this period that China reached its cultural peak, with outstanding literature, the invention of new technology, expanding foreign trade the developments of new religions. As a Chinese student, how I wish I could witness the life at that time, the peaceful beautiful and joyful life there.
Leading such a life appeals me. It would be a challenge to discover if I could survive in ancient times, to find out what skills I possessed and how I could use them to earn a living. I also hope I would discover some of the ancient values such respect and morality, which I fear have become less important in our modern world.
